The script (SINS OF THE WIFE) is based on the true story of a two-year murder investigation in which the wife of the victim involved her two daughters in murder plots, witchcraft, and drugs and, according to one testimony, had sex with a daughter’s teen boyfriend while playing the role of a trusted advisor to teens. The lead detective builds two cases for solicitation of murder against the wife and one daughter as he tries to find the killer. When the wife’s solicitation conviction is overturned on an appeal that pre-trial publicity had prejudiced the jury, the detective has only thirty days to find the shooter the wife hired to kill her husband and prevent her release from prison. Finally, the detective does find the shooters—a man and a woman (driver), just days before the wife’s scheduled release date. The wife and the two shooters pleaded guilty for life sentences rather than take a chance on receiving the death penalty.
