Description
etekce Store The Holy Name Altar and Sick Call Outfit DescriptionYou are looking at a very old Altar and Sick Call Outfit.   One of the leadng Catholic art companies in their Holy Name Altar and Communion set have produced, at a reasonable price, a devotional work of art representing the 13th Station and at the same time equipping the Catholic home with what is a practically a home altar and also with those articles which ought to be on hand in every Catholic home when the priest is called on to administer the sacraments. The Holy Name Altar consists of a statue of the BLESSED VIRGIN holding in her arms the body of he DIVINE SON which has just been taken down from the cross, and a Communion Set which is placed in a receptacle under the statue.  The statue stands in a grotto like niche with a decorated dome-shaped background.  The background is ornamental in gilt and at the sides presents the pictures of Saints Peter and Paul sorrowfully gazing at the central figures.  The receptacle under the statue has  a Communion Set consisting of: 1. A crucifix, 2. a nickel plated plate inscibed with I.H.S for the absorbent cotton and salt or bread crumbs for absorbing the oil which adheres to the priest's fingers. 3.A spoon used in administering the oblution water to the Communicant 4. holy water bottle 5. two  candles  6. two hemstitched linen cloths, one for the fingers of the priest, and one for the breast of the Comminicant. The whole altar is in a heavy solid oak frame to which are attached two candelabra.  The glass front of the niche containing the statue has a decorated stained border inlaid with mother of pearl.  On the glass door of the case for the Communion Set is a copy of the "Last Supper".  All of this information and more is included with the original booklet included with this box.  The 23 page booklet has info and prayers.  The booklets cover pages are detached from the booklet and has some wear but is all there and legible.  Copyright 1909.  There is another little booklet in a foreign language titled "Altare Del Sacro Nome" Price $6.00 this boklet is 8 pages all in one piece.  This set  includes 1 candelabra (1 missing), one holy water bottle with tip (great condition), one corroded plate and one spoon, 1 crucifix that the upper decorative attachment is loose, one fabric hankerchief, one bent candle, and 2 booklets.  Everything you see in the pics is what you get.  If you need additional pics please ask.  The frame is loose from the rear box it may need minor repair.  All the glass is in good condition with no breaks.  I am sellling this item as is. I require shipping insurance on this item.  There is a wire attached for hanging on the wall. And as you see in the pics the lower compartment has other painting than the last supper.  Looks like someone must have re-stained this box.  What a great piece of religious history for a great price. Please ask questions.
