It is not a model A or B, it's in between. This piano was made between 1867 and 1872 in FRANCE !! I have verified this with Steinway&Sons in New York and have paperwork to prove it. David Kirkland, customer service administration at Steinway said: "it was made by the "Mangeot" brothers in France, authorized by C.F.Theodore Steinway. These pianos are rare, ONLY 3 OR 4 known examples." This instrument was made at a time when Steinway was apparently wishing to enter the European market, It has the very first style 1 grand cross strung Steinway Type plate which Steinway was to become famous for. The piano was made by the small piano manufacturer "Mangeot Freres" of Nancy, France. Of course, this piano has been completely rebuilt and is in excellent shape. A matching artist bench is also included.
