The "Living Madonnas" Series. The "Pensive Madonna" was the 1978 issue in a series entitled, "Living Madonnas" from the collection Studio Dante di Volteradici.  Each Limited Edition plate in the series will be cast in Ivory-Alabaster.  The plates will be castings of the work of living Italian masters who sculpt in the classic tradition of the High Rennaissance. The Collection Studio Dante di Volteradici.   Since the Renaissance, the hills of Tuscany have been a world center for the mining, working up and sculpting of alabaster. Among the many who work with this material, a select few, under the tutelage of master craftsmen, learn the secrets of design as they have passed down for generations. It requires carefull training in the techniques of casting, sculpting and finishing before one earns the right to join the exclusive family who create those works which bear the name of the Collection Studio Dante di Volteradici. This is a Beautiful three-dimensianal or Heavy Relief, 8 inch plate.  Made by Hand in Tuscany, Italy and signed by the Master. This collectible plate is in mint condition and includes the original box, protective styrofoam, history and certificate of authenticity. The back of the plate has an embedded bronze hanger and a bronze plaque engraved with the plate number and description.
