Description                             Antique Slate School Blackboard w/Wooden Frame      This auction is for an antique slate school blackboard with a wooden frame. This orignal piece has a wooden frame that is about 1.75 inches wide and is mitered at the corners. The inside of the frame, where it meets the slate, is rounded so this is a well-made frame. The frame has not been stained but has been cleaned and three coats of oil have been applied and hand-rubbed into it. With the frame, the entire piece measures about 29 inches wide and 22.5 inches high. The slate alone measures about 25.5 inches wide and 19 inches high. The slate has no cracks or chips and erases cleanly. One way to tell that the slate is old is that the back of it has not been polished (smoothed). It still has the rough cut to it.  I am including an old felt blackboard eraser with it. This great-looking piece is ready to use. I'm including the original two hooks for hanging if you choose to hang it. This original blackboard would make an outstanding addition to any country decor. It is also a functional item; useful for family reminders and messages. It's large enough to be used in numerous business settings.
