Description Hello, good day, and welcome to my auction.  I am offering an amazing, one of a kind, unusual, rare, handmade, antique ring.  The STUNNING stone is a glowing opal-moonstone, maybe glass? cabochon which measures in at a huge 3/4" by 1/2" and sits up 1/2" on the finger,  it is small-medium, approximately a size 5-6.   Sorry but I do not have a ring sizer at the moment.  The band is elaborately handworked in what looks to be an edwardian- medieval style silver work, and it is stamped sterling.  I was told this ring is from the late 1800's - 1900's.   I purchased this ring approximately 30 years ago from an elderly  man in Redondo Beach California, he purchased it from the Winchester Estate shortly after Sarah Winchester's death in 1922.  The ring belonged to Sarah Winchester of the Winchester Repeating Arms Rifle Company.   It was given to her by her loyal and much relied upon medium and spiritualist confidant.  No one has ever known who this medium was to this day, but Sarah never made a move without consulting her beloved and trusted psychic advisor.   Sarah most likely would have committed suicide if it were not for the advice and companionship of this particular spiritualist.  I was told by the man that sold me this ring that the interesting thing was that Sarah did not usually wear this ring on her finger but that she wore it on a chain around her neck and that very often she used it as a pendulum when she had seances and consulted the ouija boards.  She felt that the stone in this ring was highly charged as well as haunted  and was a very helpful tool,  so to speak, with which she could  summon the spirits that she wanted to talk to, much of the time it being her husband and quite possibly her beloved daughter.  She adored this ring and always had it on her person.  The medium told her that she must have it near her or on her person at all times, that it would protect her from evil and harmful spirits that could cause her harm and possibly death, and thus heeding the mediums advice she wore this till the day she died.  The story is that Sarah suffered a terrible and debilitating depression after the death of her only daughter and then soon after her beloved husband, at a very early age.   This is what catapulted her  to rely on spiritualists, mediums, and psychics and to fall deep into the occult world.   Her favorite medium, and her closest confidant, the one who gave her this ring, told her that the reason for all her misfortune, tragedy, and grief, was because the Winchester family name was cursed and damned by all the millions of unsettled spirits that were killed by rifles made by her family's  company.   The medium told her that the only way to make peace with these malevolent spirits was to start building a house immediately for herself and the spirits in order to appease all those lost and angry souls.   And that if construction ever stopped for a minute, her life would end, possibly in a tragic and horrible death.  Immediately, she set out to start building and she did not stop for 39 years of her life.  She had no problem with money as back in the day she was considered a billionaire having inheirited 20 million dollars.  Sarah constructed 24/7, 365 days a year.  And it only stopped until her death.  Sarah had a fascination with the numbers13 and 43.  She had strange staircases and doors that led to nowhere in her mansion.  She had seances every night at the stroke of 12:00 and every afternoon at 12:00 as well, and the interesting thing was that she went to her seance room a different way each night and day  as to confuse the spirits of the angy dead killed by the Winchester rifle.   Sarah was very interesting indeed,  was she pushed to the brink of insanity?   They say that her mansion  was full of spirits/entities and all kinds of paranormal activity was the norm.
