The Gancanagh is an member of the Faerie family closely related to the Leprechaun, and is mainly found in Ireland and the surrounding areas. Gancanagh ("gean-cānach") literally means "the love-talker," and this faerie is renowned for his seduction skills of human women. Historically, the Gancanagh is depicted as a handsome shapeshifting spirit who brought bad luck wherever he went. Of course he doesn't really bring bad luck, but those whose wives and daughters were seduced by him considered him otherwise!
