The Stone of Transition!   This offering is of an exceptionally accurate,  lifesized raven skull, perfectly hand carved from Mexican Black Obsidian!  This very special masterpiece was carefully patterned after the skull of Corvus corax, the Common Raven of North America. This skull measures 4-11/16 inches long and 1-15/16 inches wide across the cranium. It shows perfect REALISM  in all aspects, and is a true lapidary wonder to behold in person.   The bill and underside of the cranium are completely hollowed-out exactly like the real thing.  Every effort has been taken to ensure museum-quality perfection in details and shape.  Topped off with a beautiful high-gloss polish, this magnificent raven skull is sure to command attention and amazement from all! Corvus corax "An omenous scavenger" to those people who only know him through Hollywood's productions.  To many enlightened people though, Raven is a spiritually powerful character who has been venerated as far back as written or oral history goes. In the Bible, God commanded the ravens to feed Elijah when he was sent to the brook Cherith following his prophecies  against Ahab.  The raven also was a key player in the story of the Great Flood.  Noah first sent out a raven to search for dry land, but the bird did not return.  (Totally understandable, as ravens are so clever and  resourceful in new situations that the bird probably felt no need to return to the ark). Noah released  a dove which was dependant enough to bring back a sign that the waters were receding. To the Haida People of the Queen Charlotte Islands, (off the coast of Northern British Columbia, Canada), Raven was the Trickster, responsible for miraculous  deeds that included bringing Light to the World, as well as Life to Man. And to the Vikings, ravens provided both practical and spiritual support: Odin kept himself informed about the affairs of the nine worlds with two  faithful ravens.
